Somerset County United Way’s Annual Baby Bundle Drive

Somerset County, NJ -- Somerset County United Way’s Baby Bundles program collects and distributes donations of new baby supplies, clothing and personal hygiene items for low-income families and mothers-to-be in Somerset County in an effort to help financially struggling families with infants. You can help by conducting a baby supply drive at organizations such as your place of business, religious institution, community service organization, school, etc.

“The birth of a child is a wonderful thing, but for many low-income families throughout Somerset County, it also brings a realization of financial hardships,” said Philip A. Brown III, President and CEO of Somerset County United Way. “We are pleased to bring together resources to assist those in need by coordinating the compassion and generosity of hundreds of volunteers throughout the community who make donations and facilitate drives.”

Through the collection and distribution of new clothing, baby food and other supplies to local agencies, low-income families and expectant parents throughout Somerset County are provided the necessities to help their children get a better start in life. Help us to collect the essential products needed (formula, baby food, diapers, wipes, health care items, baby clothes, blankets, etc.) to ensure a healthy start for all.

The recipient families are identified through Somerset County United Way’s relationships with numerous non-profit agencies throughout the community who service the appropriate population. In 2009, approximately 2,000 baby care items were collected and distributed to mothers in Somerset County to provide a better start in life for their babies.

Baby Bundles is a great way to lend a helping hand and show others that you care for and support those most in need in our community,” said Irene Natale, Baby Bundles program coordinator for United Way. “Countless volunteers at dozens of organizations help make Baby Bundles a successful program in helping new families get off to a strong start. “

You are invited to participate in the program by donating new items, or by organizing a drive to collect new baby items. For more information on how to help with Baby Bundles, please contact Irene Natale at (908) 253-6511 or by e-mail at Irene.Natale@scuw.org.
