Somerset County United Way recently hosted a “Thank You” dinner for their Tax Preparation Volunteers at Maggiano’s Restaurant, a co-sponsor of the dinner. Please see photo and caption below.

Photo Caption:  Somerset County United Way 2010 Tax Preparation Volunteers pose for a picture in front of Maggiano’s Restaurant in Bridgewater where they celebrated another successful year as a VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) site. Volunteers were invited to a celebratory “Thank You” Dinner that was co-sponsored by Maggiano’s Restaurant in support of United Way’s financial stability work in SomersetCounty.  Over 30 IRS- trained volunteers donated over 500 hours in preparing taxes for low-income families. In its third year, Somerset County United Way’s Free Tax Preparation Program is part of United Way’s CASH (Creating Assets, Savings & Hope) initiative designed to assist low and moderate income populations maximize resources to achieve financial independence.  The focus of the Free Tax Program is to encourage claiming tax credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit.  An independent nonprofit organization, Somerset County United Way helps people who live and work in SomersetCounty through its vision that all residents possess a living income that will be attained through achieving financial stability, healthy lifestyles, and life readiness.
